MAKES: half a jar TIME: 30 mins
A BBQ without BBQ sauce is like the sun without heat – it doesn’t make sense and is totally pointless. So we thought we’d have a stab at making some at home because thats what adults do in their spare time. None of these store bought rubbish eh, the BBQ sauce actually bangs. We used it to smother our sticky bbq seitan ribs and honestly, couldn’t get enough.
Make sure the ketchup you get is good quality, and preferably organic for the best taste. You can use vegan Worcestershire sauce in place of soy sauce but that can be tricky to get hold of and the soy does just the trick.
- Add the ingredients in the list (top to bottom) to a saucepan on a pretty high heat and combine.
- Bring it to the boil and leave it to simmer for about 15 – 20 minutes, checking that the liquid has reduced and a thick lovely brown sauce has formed.
- Pull it off the heat and let it cool.
That is literally it. Store it in a glass jar and you can keep it for 3 – 4 weeks we reckon, but guarantee it won’t stick around for long!
